Shakespeare and Epic Poetry Reading Groups at Plymouth District Library in Michigan

This blog is for the Shakespeare and Epic Poetry Read Aloud Groups at the Plymouth District Library in Plymouth, Michigan.

My name is Prashant Andrade, I am a City of Plymouth resident and have a daughter who is currently attending the Plymouth-Canton High Schools.

I am excited to be coordinating the  Shakespeare and Epic Poetry Read Aloud Groups at the Plymouth District Library. The library provides us meeting rooms for free.

This is a totally free and not for profit community based activity. It  arises from my love of Shakespeare and Epic Poetry and is partly inspired by Dr. Gareth Morgan’s Shakespeare group that met every Sunday afternoon at the University of Texas at Austin, where I obtained my Ph.D. I contacted Dr. Morgan’s son and he encouraged me to use the system his Dad had in place for reading the plays aloud.

We meet one Sunday afternoon every  month to read Shakespeare. Plays we have read so far include Macbeth, Twelfth Night, Richard II, Othello, The Tempest, Henry IV Part 1, Antony and Cleopatra and Measure for Measure and Henry IV, Part 2.

Epic poems we have read so far include The Inferno and The Aeneid.

Please contact me at fea_123@yahoo.com for more information or to join!

You can also download a word document of the flyer to advertise the group.
